![]() There might have even been a golf swing moment, you know the one, when he helps her with her swing. Watching Alex and Caroline try different sports was lots of fun and allows them plenty of time to develop a wonderful relationship. It’s clear he enjoys spending time with her, but Caroline is slow to understand why he is helping her. He’s a top athlete in his own right and gives of his time to help Caroline. I think everyone could learn how to be a better friend from these characters. Yes, there are complications when Caroline starts to fall for the guy she’s set her friend up with, but they are all surprisingly mature about it. I don’t usually love matchmaking stories – Emma was my least favourite Jane Austen novel no it’s referenced quite a few times in this book, clearly inspiration – but It’s All In How You Fall is done so well I loved every single word. But, things get complicated when she starts to fall for Alex. Determined to repay his kindness, she offers to set his up with his crush and her best friend, one meetup/date for every sport session. One sport a week until she finds something she loves. Forces to retire from everything she loves and worked for at fifteen, she is t sure what to do with herself until her brother’s best friend offers to help her date other sports. But, her doctors warn her that her chronic back pain is a sign she needs to stop and when she takes a massive fall during training, the decision is taken out of her hands. She has an awesome new trick and she’s ready for Nationals. Caroline is a competitive gymnastic about to make elite. ![]() ![]() This time, we land in the world of gymnastics. I loved Sarah Henning’s Throw Like A Girl and in It’s All In How You Fall, she returns readers to the same world. There is enough sports, injury, dramatic game play, dramatic moments, practice time, romance, and friendship to make this an utterly delicious sports novel. You cannot let a loss not provide you with a lesson or because if you don’t then you are doubling down on what went wrong, you have to get better from it.” - Fairfield Prep coach Keith Hellstern as Prep falls to 0-2 for the first time since 2015.I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love sports novels and I am happy to say It’s All In How You Fall is a sports novel. “Last year, we started 1-3 and it was dark, I don’t want to have to go through suffering to figure out how to do it, but it is what it is, and we are going to have to move forward and build off of it. Hand senior Jack Shay threw for three second half touchdowns, including the go-ahead score in overtime to lead the Tigers’ comeback win over Fairfield Prep. “I just have to get the ball near them, and they are going to make plays.” Player of the Game “They just made plays,” Shay said of his receivers. “I threw the ball, but they got into the end zone.” “We just got to make plays and the guys stepped up,” Shay said. Shay stepped up and threw three touchdowns in the second half and overtime, linking up twice with Owen Preskar The team’s traded touchdowns in the first half, then in the second half it was Hand’s Jack Shay’s turn to take over.Ĭoming out of the locker room, Shay admitted he didn’t think many people expected the Tigers to be close with Fairfield Prep, let alone down just six points. “I am going to have to look at the film, and I know I am on the opposite side, but it looked like he got in, but that’s why you have officials.” “We felt confident that the play was a good one,” he said. ![]() ![]() Those two instances made Fairfield Prep coach Keith Hellstern want to go for the win and he thought Morris crossed the goal line. Hand previously blocked an extra point and got good pressure on the potential game-winning field. Hand scored first in the extra frame and Fairfield Prep elected to go for the win. The game went to overtime after Fairfield Prep missed a field goal as time expired. It is Hand’s first win against Fairfield Prep since 2013 and first win against Fairfield Prep at Rafferty Stadium since 2010. “We set high and hard goals and we expect to reach them.” “We stepped up in a big moment and that is what great players and great teams do,” Hand coach Erik Becker said. ![]()
